Where Are They Now? Dragons on the move and doing GREAT things after high school

Hello everyone! I am Sharlene Bala and I graduated from Honoka'a High School in 2015. I am a sophomore at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I am currently double majoring in Pre-Nursing and Healthcare Administration and Management. This school year, I will be applying to the University of Hawaii at Hilo's School of Nursing and will be pursing a Bachelor's in the Science of Nursing. As a large part of my college career, I am part of the Dorrance Scholarship Program which has allowed me to embark on many adventures thus far in college. Due to this program, I have had the opportunity to travel to Northern Arizona University for a summer as well as engage in conservation efforts here on the Big Island. From hiking the Grand Canyon, to snorkeling the reefs of Miloli'i, so far, I have had a very enriching college experience because of this scholarship program. I look forward to continuing this incredible journey and as I do so, I'll always keep that Dragon Pride.
Hi Dragons! I am Joshua Salazar a 2016 Honoka'a graduate. Currently, I am a junior at Menlo College in California pursuing a double major in Marketing and Human Resource Management. During my time at Honoka'a I was President of the National Honor Society organization, and co-editor for the yearbook. At Menlo College, I serve as the Commuter Student Representative on our Student Government Association (SGA) team. As of recent, I am a newly elected Executive Vice President for SGA. In addition to being a student leader on campus, I am also the President of our Pilipino American Club Kapamilya (PACK), a Filipino culture club. Aside from being an active member in our student life, I also play a role in our college's Strategic Planning Committee (SPC). As the SPC Student Representative, my role is to help administrators as well as faculty provide strategic initiatives to achieve the college's mission and vision statement. Getting involved on campus truly made my college experience worthwhile. My roles on campus not only helped me as student, but I believe my involvement plays a role in how I want to proceed with my career. My engagement in the various activities I participated in at Honoka'a has allowed me to be able to do the things at Menlo. In every decision I make, I always refer back to the Waimea and Honoka'a community that lifted me up to pursue my personal dreams. Hope all is well - Joshua
